London, 12-14th July 2019

This Saturday, Dr Joanna Omylinska-Thurston and Prof Vicky Karkou are presenting Arts for the Blues : A Creative Psychological Intervention for Depression, at the IMEC International Meaning Conference; a bi-annual international conference in the UK for practitioners and researchers who focus at meaning in life and at helping people to live a meaningful life despite life’s challenges http://www.meaning.org.uk

Another member of our team, Dr Scott Thurston, a poet, is also presenting ‘A Poem in Four Movements: Wrestling Truth’, which will provide an insight into his long-standing collaborative enquiry with dancer Sarie Mairs Slee. Together they explore the creative possibilities of poetry and movement towards new transdisciplinary approaches to composition and performance. This partnership involves them both as mover-writers, exploring the creative potential of moving, physically writing and mark-making as well as poetry composition, speaking and reading.

This year there are six main strands to the conference

  • Meaning & positive psychology
